There is no better way to start off the fall season than with a trip to a pumpkin patch. And if you’re lucky enough, you can visit a full blown farm like Bishop’s Pumpkin Farm in Wheatland, CA like I did, under the guise of running a 5k called ‘Run Your Gourd Off’. And while they have all the proper fall entertainment like a corn maze, fresh baked goods, crafts, fresh apple cider, a petting zoo and pumpkins galore, my favorite part was the field of ridiculously large pumpkins. Pumpkins so large I could sit on them comfortably as if I were a cute toddler sitting on a normal sized pumpkin. I was giddy with delight roaming through the knee high pumpkins that were easily 2.5 to 4 feet in diameter with vines so big they probably required axes to sever. I have no reasonable idea why, but I want one. And next year…if I keep this running gig up, I’m gonna get one!
I know they are just roadside weeds, but the way they catch the sunlight reminds me of the line ‘amber waves of grain’ from God Bless of America. So patriotic!
We often wonder if Hunter ever actually sleeps because every time we check on him he has at least one eye open. Always on the look-out, on the hunt!
Boredom can produce some interesting photographs, especially when there is metal shavings at your disposal.
1 corgie + 1 in her 20’s + 3 in their 30’s + 4 in their 40’s = A load of trouble!!
